
MICHAEL HOEFFEL
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, INVESTMENTS
As senior vice president of investments, Michael Hoeffel establishes and implements Mosser Capital and Mosser’s combined (the “Company”) asset/portfolio management, capital markets, investor relations and reporting, investment monitoring and risk management functions in a manner that achieves the business objectives of the Company. Michael works cross-functionally with both the investment management and operating companies including the operations, acquisitions, asset management, investor relations, FP&A and accounting teams. He further serves as a key advisor to the CEO of Mosser Capital, as well as be a member of the Investment committee.
Michael has 25 years of real estate experience, during which he has been involved in the sourcing, underwriting, acquisition, development, management and dispositions of assets. During his tenure at MacFarlane Partners he served as Managing Director, Portfolio Management in which he was responsible for the real estate portfolios of his clients. He served as a client advocate within the firm and was involved in all matters relating to the portfolios including developing and implementing investment strategies, creating new investment vehicles, preparing management and financial reports and monitoring investment performance relative to client risk/return objectives. He previously built and oversaw the team that underwrote prospective investments undertaken by MacFarlane Partners, ensuring that due diligence tasks were completed within required time frames and helping to structure transactions with property sellers and/or joint-venture partners.
Prior to joining MacFarlane Partners, Michael served as manager of analysis services for Property Capital, Inc., a real estate investment banking firm that specialized in raising equity capital for property owners and operators. There, he led the firm’s efforts to automate the investment underwriting process, working with a group of information-technology specialists.
Michael began his real estate career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he served first as a senior associate and then as a manager in the firm’s real estate advisory services group, which provided valuation and due diligence services for third-party commercial and residential property portfolios. Previously, he had worked for five years as a mergers-and-acquisitions consultant to the commercial banking industry.
Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley with an emphasis in real estate, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Pension Real Estate Association and Berkeley Real Estate Associates. He was formerly the President of the Board of Hearth Homes, a not-for-profit affordable housing developer and Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission for the City of Orinda, CA.
